A rare and iconic example of the award-winning “Soriana” 3-seater sofa by legendary Italian design duo Afra & Tobia Scarpa, produced by Cassina in the 1970s. This piece features its original dark chocolate leather upholstery, rich in texture and patina, and embodies the revolutionary spirit of postmodern Italian design. In 1970, the Soriana won the prestigious Compasso d’Oro, affirming its place in the design canon.
Revolutionary Form, Radical Comfort
The Soriana was conceived in 1969 to redefine upholstered seating. Its most radical innovation? The absence of an internal supporting structure. Instead, its plush contours are held in place by a bold external chrome-plated clamp system, which embraces the voluminous form like a belt.
Its generous proportions and inviting curves embody an effortless mix of high design and casual comfort—meant for free, modern living.
The dark chocolate brown leather upholstery has aged beautifully, revealing light creasing, subtle patina, and surface character consistent with careful vintage use.
