The artistic copyright for the "cantilever chair" – the "cantilever chair" – is, as is well known, held by the Dutch architect Mart Stam (1899–1986).
Since the 1930s, MAUSER-WERKE also produced tubular steel cantilever chairs based on its own designs, which led to lengthy patent disputes with, among others, Mies van der Rohe and the competing furniture manufacturer Thonet.
In 1932, both applicants were finally granted the licensing rights.
CONSTRUCTION:
Cantilever steel construction made of chrome-plated tubing (Ø 20 mm). The tube ends are fitted with metal caps.
Seat and backrest made of bent plywood, stained black and sealed with hard wax.
The chairs have the original MAUSER manufacturer's plaques on the underside.
CONDITION:
Used furniture - the chairs have been thoroughly cleaned and completely refurbished!
Minor signs of age and use are naturally present.
Very attractive veneer pattern. Traces of previous upholstery work can be found on the underside of the wooden parts.
Sturdy frames and chrome plating in very good condition!

DESIGN:
Classic cantilever chair - Bauhaus design in a variation by Walter Papst (1924–2008), who worked for MAUSER for many years and is credited with the design. The chairs were produced by MAUSER-WERKE in the 1950s/60s.
MANUFACTURER:
1896 – Dr. Ing. Alfons Mauser founded a steel factory in Oberndorf (Germany) on the Neckar River.
1929 – Production of steel furniture began at the Waldeck (Germany) plant.
From 1930 – Production of cantilever steel tube chairs and armchairs.
After the war, production of high-quality furniture and office equipment resumed. The Mauser Round Form program offered desks, conference tables, and club furniture.
This was followed by extremely successful international development. For many decades, MAUSER WERKE was among the world's most renowned office furniture manufacturers.
2002 – The company in Waldeck became insolvent and was liquidated.
The brand name "Mauser – Furniture and Seating Culture" was sold and continued through a management buyout.
The furniture produced by Mauser since 1929 in the "Mid-Century Modern Style" is now sought-after design classics.
