70s Prototype Desk Lamp by Herman Hermsen, ABK Arnhem
This unique 70s lamp was designed and made by leading Arnhem jewelry maker Herman Hermsen. The lamp is a prototype Herman Hermsen made during his studies (1973-1979) at the Arnhem Academy of Fine Arts. This lamp comes from Hermsen's personal archive and was brought to us by his former instructor.
During his studies, Herman Hermsen primarily made furniture and lamps. After graduation, he focused on jewelry design. He also taught design at academies in the Netherlands and abroad.
This beautiful lamp features two angular baby-blue plates attached to a turquoise stem. The base plate can be moved separately from the stem, allowing the lamp to tilt slightly. A unique piece that effortlessly complements a vintage or modern interior!
The lamp is technically sound and works perfectly. The plates have minor discoloration and the handle has some scratches in the paint due to use, but this does not detract from its beauty. Otherwise, it is in good vintage condition. Comes with a new LED mirror bulb.
