Set of 6 Gispen chairs, model 1231, designed by Andre Cordemeyer, Gispen Design Studio, circa 1960.
Unlike model 1235, model 1231 was designed without armrests. The seat and backrest are upholstered with the original blue faux leather. On the back of the backrest is the well-known beautiful and practical handle and heavy quality (weight 6 kilos per chair), characteristic of Gispen chairs.
A beautiful retro chair that fits both modern and classic interiors. The chairs have been repainted (originally grey lacquered).
Dimensions: h x w x d = 79 x 44 x 53 cm, seat height = 47 cm.
On 2 chairs there is minor damage to the faux leather seat section (figs. 7, 8) and paint worn off near the handles (fig. 9). The rest are in neat condition. Some refurbishment is required, but for this price, and certainly for 6 pieces, it is definitely worth the effort!
