Set of 6 Gispen 'TU Delft' 106 Pagholz chairs, Netherlands, 1950s
Beautiful set of original Gispen TU Delft 106 school chairs, designed for Delft University of Technology. The chairs have that typical, down-to-earth, industrial look so characteristic of post-war Dutch design.
Design & Materials
• Frame: robust tubular steel in a textured hammer finish, with the characteristic continuous top rail that extends above the backrest and serves as a handle.
• Seat & Back: molded Pagholz plywood in a deep red/mahogany hue with beautifully visible wood grain. The "PAG" stamp with the product code is clearly visible in the wood – a beautiful detail for enthusiasts and collectors.
• Details: black rubber cap feet and visible screw connections further emphasize the honest, utilitarian character. The chairs are stackable and therefore perfect for project furnishings.
Ambience & Use
Originally designed as university furniture, these chairs are now ideal around a dining table, in a restaurant, café, studio, or creative workspace. The combination of warm reddish-brown Pagholz and the softly patinated industrial frame gives the chairs a true vintage "loft" look.
Condition
Good vintage condition with signs of wear consistent with age and intensive use.
• Pagholz shells: beautiful sheen, occasional light scratches, small signs of wear, and minimal edge wear.
• Steel frames: patina, minor paint damage, and imperfections in the hammered finish.
The structure is sturdy throughout; the chairs are comfortable and ready to use.
Multiple pieces available; price is for the set of 6.
