Set of 6 DSC 106 Stacking Chairs by Giancarlo Piretti for Castelli, Italy, 1960s
Iconic set of six DSC 106 stacking chairs designed by Giancarlo Piretti for Anonima Castelli in the mid-1960s. This is one of Castelli’s most celebrated models – a true classic of Italian post-war design – combining a graphic architectural frame with remarkable comfort and practicality.
Each chair features the characteristic die-cast aluminium side frame with integrated hand-grip, tapered steel legs and generously curved seat and back. The shells are upholstered in the original warm ochre skai (faux leather), which gives the chairs a strong mid-century look and works beautifully with both minimalist and more colourful interiors. The Castelli mark is present on the metal understructure.
Condition
Good vintage condition with age-appropriate signs of use. The skai upholstery shows minor surface marks, small pressure dents and a few light spots here and there; the metal frames and legs show patina, small scratches and wear to the finish, consistent with stacking and decades of use. Structurally sound and ready for daily use. Making them ideal for a dining area, conference table, studio or gallery space. A collectible set of one of Giancarlo Piretti’s most successful designs, offering the perfect blend of Italian modern style and everyday functionality.
