Beautiful vintage glass fruit bowl from the 1960s, made in Murano, Italy. This hand-blown bowl consists of 2 layers of tentacles. The top layer splashes apart like a paint splatter in long green tentacles, this contrasts with the bottom layer of transparent tentacles that appear to be much more controlled. Because of the contrasts in shape and color, the bowl plays with light in an insane way. The bowl was once intended as a fruit bowl, but looks equally insane in the display case óor use the bowl as a bonbonniere, for example.
The bowl is shaped by hand, and has graceful round wavy forms at the top and a wide flat base, which provides stability. No mass production, but traditional Murano glassware with character.
The bowl has a few tiny scratches at the ends of the upper tentacles, but is otherwise in excellent vintage condition.
