Set of six vintage chairs from the 1950s; model SB02 by Cees Braakman for UMS Pastoe. Braakman went on a study trip to the US in the early 1950s, where he became completely fascinated by the work of Charles & Ray Eames. This is clearly reflected in this model. Bentwood, floating seats, a favorite design piece from the Netherlands.
The chairs are constructed of laminated beech and are still comfortable, even after 70 years of use. The seat and back are veneered with beautiful teak. Typical of the post-World War II era, when the import of tropical wood for reconstruction began.
Three of the chairs are still in good, original condition; one is missing a wooden top plate, and two of the six require some attention.
