Product description
Set of 6 Tulip Chairs 116, swivel dining table/office chairs with armrests and beige cushions, brand Arkana Furniture, designed by Maurice Burke.
Arkana Limited was a British furniture manufacturer based in Bath in the 1960s and 1970s and became known for their mid-century- modern style and space age furniture. The Canadian designer Maurice Prentice Burke (1921–2013) designed chairs and tables for this company, many made of plastic such as polystyrene, but also of wood and metal or of combined materials.
The seat of these chairs is made of plastic and the leg and base are made of metal. Despite the age (purchased in 1975 for the lunch room of Uitgeverij Bert Bakker, Amsterdam), the chairs are in a good vintage condition.
