Rare vintage Gispen diagonal chair (model 2a) with a chrome tubular frame and woven rattan.

Manufactured by Dutch Originals in 2000.
Condition: In good vintage condition. The chairs show signs of wear consistent with age. The rattan on two chairs is damaged on the side, see photo.

Other information:
The original design of this iconic chair, number 1, with plywood and faux leather, dates from the late 1920s. A version with woven rattan, known as model 2a, was also introduced in 1931, and a version with woven rattan was introduced in 1934. The "diagonal chair" gained fame primarily through its use in prestigious projects such as the executive office of the Van Nelle factory in Rotterdam and Dudok's Hilversum town hall. This used chair is a beautiful example of Gispen's timeless designs, characterized by clean lines and a unique vintage charm.
