Beautiful set of 4 vintage dining chairs, model 811, also known as the Prague model. Designed by Josef Hoffmann for the Czech company Liga in the 1960s.
Josef Hoffmann designed this chair for Thonet in the 1920s. A timeless design, the chair was popular in both the 1930s and the 1950s/60s (among architects, among others), and is still very much in demand today.
This set was made in the 1950s/60s by the Czech company Ligna. Ligna emerged from the nationalization/expropriation of Thonet factories after World War II. The chairs do not bear the Thonet name, but were made in the same factories using the same machinery. The "Ligna" brand is marked under the seat.
In good condition. One chair has a small imperfection on the top of the backrest, see photo. This does not detract from the sturdiness, and this has been taken into account in the price.
