With its evocative name and generous large roses, the Cannes model is one of those Digoin Sarreguemines patterns that immediately makes a real statement on the table. This set comprises four French earthenware soup plates, decorated in the center with large roses rendered in deep shades of burgundy and old rose. The blue foliage creates a particularly striking contrast, while a pale blue frieze, composed of arches and small geometric patterns, frames the well like a delicate lace border. The stencil-applied decoration possesses that slightly softened, characteristic charm of productions from that era. The shades overlap, the outlines remain soft, and the flowers almost take on the appearance of a hand-painted design. Produced by Digoin Sarreguemines in the 1940s, they bear the manufacturer's mark on the reverse, along with the name Cannes. With a diameter of approximately 22 cm, they are in very good overall condition, displaying the discreet traces of time naturally associated with their history.
