With its evocative name and large, generous roses, the Cannes model is one of those Digoin Sarreguemines patterns that immediately command a true presence on the table. This set comprises four French faience soup plates, adorned in the center with large roses rendered in deep shades of burgundy and old rose. The blue foliage creates a particularly successful contrast, while a pale blue frieze, composed of arches and small geometric patterns, frames the central well like a delicate lace border. The stencil-applied decoration possesses that slightly softened quality characteristic of productions from that era. The shades overlap, the outlines remain soft, and the flowers almost take on the appearance of a painted design. Produced by Digoin Sarreguemines in the 1940s, they bear the manufacturer's mark on the reverse, along with the name Cannes. With a diameter of approximately 22 cm, they are in very good overall condition, showing discreet traces of time naturally linked to their history.
