French porcelain from the interwar period produced tableware of great refinement, where the milky white body provides a setting for delicate floral decorations, printed and hand-finished with remarkable care. These 4 dessert plates are a beautiful example of this. On a pure white background, a central bouquet combines rose-mauve thistles with finely serrated olive green leaves, blue campanulas with sinuous stems, and unopened buds. The same motif, reduced in size, is found on the rim at four symmetrical points, giving the set a balanced and elegant composition. A silver line runs along the edge, accentuating the shape without weighing it down. The decoration, polychrome printed underglaze, displays the transparency and chromatic softness characteristic of the best French productions from the 1920s-1950s. The underside is white, with no identifiable manufacturer's mark. The quality of the porcelain, the whiteness of the body, and the delicacy of the decoration indicate careful production, very certainly French. Diameter: 22 cm. Very good overall condition on all 4 plates. A consistent and charming set, perfect for a French-style table or a collection of botanically decorated porcelains.
