This Gispen 356 office chair is a beautiful example of Dutch design from the 1930s: sleek, functional, and meticulously designed down to the last detail. Designed in 1937 by Willem Hendrik Gispen, the founder of the eponymous factory, the model became one of the most recognizable design icons of that period. The influence of the Bauhaus style is clearly visible in the chrome-plated tubular frame, the elegant curves of the seat, and the characteristic Bakelite armrests, which are still fully intact. The chair was produced until 1966 and is known for its durable construction and clever functionality: swiveling, height-adjustable, and designed for intensive daily use. The Gispen 356 is therefore more than just an office chair; it's a piece of Dutch design history—a timeless object that still fits effortlessly into modern interiors. A classic ready for a new chapter.
We have two chairs available. The frames of both are still in good vintage condition; Only the green leather upholstery and the underlying foam need replacing (see also the latest compilation). This makes them ideal for enthusiasts who want to restore an authentic piece without compromising the original quality. The price has been adjusted accordingly and is for the set of two.
