Design by Giovanni Carini for Planula, Italy, 1970s.
Elegant set of two Libellula chairs, a characteristic Italian design from the seventies. The design owes its name to the light, almost floating silhouette – comparable to the wings of a dragonfly. This effect is created by the slender chrome tubular frame combined with a stretched leather seat and backrest.
The chairs have a strong graphic character: the minimalist frame stands out clearly in the space while the leather forms a warm and tactile contrast with the cool steel. This type of design is typical of experimental Italian furniture design from the 70s, in which construction and material were made expressively visible.
Thanks to their slender proportions and open structure, the chairs fit effortlessly into mid-century, modernist, and contemporary interiors.
Condition
