These original Barcelona chairs (model MR90), designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, are early editions from the 1960s–70s. The iconic design was originally created in 1929 for the German Pavilion at the Barcelona World Exposition. Knoll began adding branding to the frame and cushions in the 1990s; these chairs predate that period and therefore do not carry a Knoll logo.
The chairs have been in our family since the late 1970s and show a beautiful, authentic vintage character. The leather has developed a rich patina and is in beautiful condition.
There are minor signs of use consistent with age:
- One backrest strap shows wear and may need attention (see photos 14, 15, 16).
- One cushion has a small, light paint spot on the side (see photo).
Technically and visually, the chairs are in great condition overall.
A timeless design classic and a rare opportunity for collectors or design lovers looking for authentic mid-century modern pieces.
