Set of Two Vintage Wassily / Model B3 Armchairs — Marcel Breuer, circa 1960s (Gavina / later Knoll International)
A striking pair of the iconic Wassily (B3) armchairs designed by Marcel Breuer—one of the most celebrated Bauhaus designs of the 20th century. Defined by its architectural, chrome-plated tubular steel frame and wide leather sling bands for the seat, back and armrests, the B3 remains a benchmark of modernist clarity: graphic, balanced and effortlessly timeless.
This set stands out for its collector appeal. The leather presents a deep dark-brown foundation with warm cognac/caramel highlights developed through age, use and light exposure. The arm straps and back band show particularly vivid tonal variation and beautifully expressive wear—creating a rich, lived-in surface that collectors and design purists seek. The “Marcel Breuer” signature is visible in the leather, as shown in the photographs.
The chrome-plated tubular frames retain a strong presence and a pleasing shine.
