Product description
These stackable bar stools made of red, lacquered sheet steel date from the 1980s and are clearly based on the iconic Tolix Stool by Xavier Pauchard, one of the most famous French designs of the 20th century. The stool was originally designed for the Tolix company in the 1930s and has since been considered a classic of industrial design. The version shown here is likely either an original from later production or a licensed replica from the same period. The design is characterized by a simple, robust formal language: four tapered legs, lateral cross braces for stabilization, and a slightly recessed seat with a central handle opening for easy carrying and stacking. The construction is made entirely of pressed steel and high-gloss lacquered in a strong red tone – a characteristic feature of many industrial furniture of the post-war period. The stool combines functionality, durability, and a clear, graphic aesthetic that makes it a popular piece in workshops, cafes, and modern interiors to this day. Condition: The stools are in good, stable vintage condition with age-appropriate patina. The lacquer shows isolated scratches, small chips, and slight signs of wear, which emphasize the authentic industrial character. The stacking function is perfectly given, the stools stand firmly and without wobbling. Some stools no longer have glides, see pictures.
