A spectacular pair of silver-plated curtain tiebacks, entirely designed around a rich motif inspired by the heraldic and chivalric world. At the center, a knight's helm sits upon a shield, surrounded by large outspread wings, a crown, crossed weapons, and foliate ornaments. The relief work is particularly generous. The feathers of the wings, armor details, scrolls, and crown almost form a small sculpture at each end. Dating from around the 1940s-1960s, they bear witness to the persistent 20th-century taste for historicist decor inspired by old residences and Neo-Gothic style. One can immediately imagine them in a library with dark wood paneling, a study, a characterful bedroom, or framing heavy velvet drapes. Repurposed from their original function, they could also become remarkable decorative elements in a contemporary interior, where their silvered patina and theatrical character would truly come into their own. A unique pair, far from ordinary decorative hardware, for those who appreciate objects capable of immediately giving an interior a story. Dimensions. Approximately 7 to 8 cm high and 5 to 6 cm wide.
