For sale are two rare lanterns/candle holders designed by Marianne Brandt around 1929-1932 for Ruppelwerke, Gotha, Germany.
Marianne Brandt (born October 1, 1893, in Chemnitz and died June 18, 1983, in Kirchberg) was a German designer, photographer, painter, and sculptor. She worked as a designer in the metal workshop and is one of the lesser-known female Bauhaus artists.
These are minimalist designs with a round base made of gray lacquered metal and brass, a domed foot, and openwork, ornamentally crafted tops. Each measures approximately 32 cm in height and 13 cm in diameter. Both are marked on the underside with the stamp "Ruppel protected."
(Note: The last sentence about Ruppel being a trademark and should be omitted or placed in the original German text, but this appears to be a separate, unrelated comment.) Condition commensurate with age, showing signs of age and use (scratches, abrasions, some light residue, oxidation, some minor paint loss, and occasional small dents). See photos, which are part of the item description.
