For sale are two rare lanterns/candle holders designed by Marianne Brandt around 1929-1932 for Ruppelwerke, Gotha, Germany.
Marianne Brandt (born October 1, 1893, in Chemnitz and died June 18, 1983, in Kirchberg) was a German designer, photographer, painter, and sculptor. She worked as a designer in the metal workshop and is one of the lesser-known female Bauhaus artists.
These are minimalist designs with a round base made of mint-green lacquered metal and brass, a domed foot, and openwork, ornamentally crafted tops. Each measures approximately 25 cm in height and 13 cm in diameter. One is marked on the underside with the "Ruppel" stamp and star, the other with the "Ruppel protected" stamp.
(Note: The last sentence appears to be a separate, unrelated comment and should be omitted.)
