Product description
A very beautiful, minimalist, and very rare Thonet set from the 1950s! The price is for a set of two chairs! A total of four chairs are available! Note: The last photo shows the model offered here: TF-06, in an original vintage Thonet advertisement! Construction: Sturdy, robust four-legged base made of welded steel tubing (Ø 20 mm). Bright red vinyl upholstery with decorative nails on the backrest. RAL color code "Traffic Red" No. 3020 - see RAL color chart. The generously sized seat and backrest, made of ergonomically shaped plywood, offer surprisingly good seating comfort! The TF-06 model is not stackable! The chairs have the original rubber dampers under the seat, and the distinctive original glides have been fitted with completely new rubber bumpers! Dimensions: Overall height: approx. 79 cm Overall width: approx. 43 cm Overall depth: approx. 55 cm Seat height: approx. 44–46 cm Manufacturer and Design: The unique success story of the Thonet Brothers company began in 1819 with the workshop founded by master cabinetmaker Michael Thonet in Boppard on the Rhine. Famous for its innovative bentwood technique from the 19th and 20th centuries, a new, revolutionary technique in furniture manufacturing developed in parallel during the early 1920s. These were the beginnings of tubular steel furniture production, from which many legendary Bauhaus classics emerged in collaboration with design icons such as Mart Stam, Marcel Breuer, and Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. (Thonet - Frankenberg/Eder) The TF-06 was designed by Dipl.-Ing. Kurt Felkel. Kurt Felkel owned his own tubular steel furniture factory in Munich, but also worked for Thonet in the 1950s. Condition: Second-hand furniture - the chairs have been expertly and carefully restored! The seat and backrest have a few light pressure marks and knocks (see photo). The tubular steel has some age patina, has been protected against corrosion and sealed. Of course, all chairs have been thoroughly cleaned and are absolutely ready to live in!
