Spring 1967, Schiphol. Two models pose on the viewing terrace of the airport restaurant, their coats shining brightly in the spring sun: one plain mustard yellow, the other brown checked with brown trim, topped with a purple cap. Behind them the new airport, opened just that year, and a glimpse of a jet bridge — Schiphol was one of the first airports in the world to introduce the passenger jet bridge, and the pride in this is almost palpable in the composition. Fashion and modernity coincide here: the coats are just as much a statement as the building in the background.
