Splendid and authentic 19th-century (Qajar period) ceremonial dagger, a collector's item. (Expert authentication)
Magnificent openwork chasing on a white metal plate with an antique black patina. The repeated decoration is particularly remarkable and rare: it depicts parakeets nesting amidst vegetal scrolls and volutes. Historic leather sheath: The original internal structure of raw leather/hide remains intact and removable. It is visible through the openwork motifs, offering a superb visual contrast. Handle and Blade: Chiseled metal grip. The blade's ricasso features a very fine traditional floral and vegetal decoration damascened in fine gold; traces are still visible. This piece has never been restored. Sold as is.
