Magnificent antique polychrome slipware trivet from the 19th century, attributed to the Onnaing pottery works.
Hexagonal in shape, it features a rich relief decoration depicting a pink wading bird (heron, stork, or flamingo) in a wooded landscape.
The design is framed by an elegant frieze of neo-Gothic-inspired scrolling foliage in cobalt blue enamel, contrasting with a nuanced amber background.
The enamels display a polychrome palette with beautiful nuances, including greens, pinks, whites, turquoises, and deep blues achieved through thick, glossy glazes, giving the decoration considerable relief and depth.
The hexagonal shape and naturalistic decoration make this piece both decorative and functional, suitable for use as a trivet, displayed on an easel, or hung on the wall as an original and authentic wall decoration.
