This elegant 19th-century inkwell was designed by A. Bossu and manufactured in France around 1880. The sculptural desk accessory features a detailed lion atop a rocky elevation, symbolizing strength and authority. The elongated base is executed in the Rococo style with asymmetrical curves, shell motifs, and two ink reservoirs with hinged lids. The metal object (43 cm wide, 23 cm deep, and 23 cm high) has a rich patina that emphasizes the depth of the casting.
