The Alky armchair, designed by Giancarlo Piretti and produced by Castelli in the 1970s, is a masterpiece of ergonomic sculpture. This pair features a fluid, organic silhouette achieved through a visionary use of materials: a core of cold-pressed polyurethane foam over a flexible steel frame, supported by elegant polished aluminum alloy base runners. These specific units have undergone a meticulous conservative restoration: the original deep blue fabric was carefully unmounted and professionally laundered to preserve its authentic 70s texture, while the internal seat padding was fully reinstated to meet original comfort and density standards.
Condition: Excellent vintage condition. By preserving the original fabric rather than reupholstering, these chairs retain their historical soul and correct period weave. The aluminum bases are polished and structurally perfect.
A Space Age Legend. The Alky is celebrated for its modular versatility—it can stand alone as a striking lounge chair or be joined with others to create seamless, wave-like sofas.
