Distinctive 1960s Space Age table lamp from Czechoslovakia, preserved with its original period shade. The sculptural lamp features a tapered wooden body elevated on three slender painted metal legs, each terminating in a contrasting spherical wooden foot. The unusual tripod construction creates a playful, futuristic silhouette closely associated with the Atomic Age and Space Age aesthetic of the 1960s. The original handmade conical shade is an especially interesting period detail. It consists of paper applied to a textile backing with a transparent protective film on the exterior, supported by its original metal frame. Decorative hand-laced stitching along the upper and lower edges emphasizes its handcrafted character. When illuminated, the shade diffuses the light into a warm, atmospheric glow that beautifully complements the natural wooden body. An expressive and unusual example of postwar Czechoslovak Mid-Century Modern design, combining organic materials and traditional craftsmanship with the optimistic futuristic forms of the Space Age. The lamp remains in original vintage condition, including its original shade, with minor signs of use, patina and age consistent with its period.
