This orange vintage 1960s pendant lamp was made by lighting company Fecelar in Marinha Grande, the historic glassmaking capital of Portugal known as the “Crystal City.”
This Mid-Century Modern and Space Age ceiling light features a glass globe with the original enamel reverse-paint on the inside with vibrant translucent orange enamel. The technique gives the globe a glowing richness when lit, while preserving a smooth, glossy outer surface and avoiding the chipping and wear common in externally painted lamps.
Reverse painting was commonly used in mid-century design, particularly in European and space-age fixtures. Perfect for lovers of Space Age, Atomic, or European Mid-Century Modern design, this pendant light works above a dining table, in a creative studio, or as a bold hallway statement piece.
