The amber hue of the pressed glass, deep and warm like the color of a draft beer, the embossed beehive logo at the bottom of the dish, the name Slavia molded around the rim. One can easily imagine the zinc counter of a 1960s French cafe, cigarette smoke, hushed conversations. Slavia beer was born in 1929, initiated by the Brasserie de La Comète, located in Châlons-sur-Marne. Its name evokes Slavic countries and Central Europe, a fashionable reference at the time for pilsner-type beers. The brand became known in cafes and brasseries thanks to a carefully crafted advertising campaign, of which this ashtray is a direct testament. The small emblem visible above the name represents a beehive surrounded by bees, a symbol of work and brewing tradition, flanked by the initials U.B. This amber pressed glass model, manufactured between 1965 and 1975, was intended for cafes, hotels, and restaurants serving Slavia beer. Slightly less common than the famous red or black ceramic ashtrays bearing the inscription "Bière des Gourmets," it offers additional interest to breweriana collectors. The glass is thick, the molding crisp, the logo perfectly legible on both sides. Oval format of approximately 13 x 10 cm, with no chips or cracks.
