Rare sculptural floor lamp known as the “Japanese Lamp,” manufactured in Czechoslovakia during the 1960s.
The design is distinguished by two slender, asymmetrical stems in brass-lacquered metal, each supporting a conical handmade paper shade. The stems rise elegantly from a circular black and polished-metal base, producing a refined graphic silhouette characteristic of European Mid-Century Modern lighting.
When illuminated, the textured paper shades diffuse a warm and atmospheric light. Each lamp head is operated independently by a pull switch, allowing flexible ambient lighting.
The combination of Japanese-inspired geometry, Atomic Age elegance and Czechoslovak craftsmanship makes this an exceptional statement floor lamp for contemporary, modernist or eclectic interiors.
The lamp has been carefully refurbished and is fitted with newly handmade paper shades, new electrical components and a new power cord.
It accepts two standard E26/E27 bulbs and is compatible with US electrical systems. A plug adapter may be required depending on the destination.
