Modernist bar cabinet by Belgian architect and furniture designer Roger De Winter (1923–2001). De Winter studied architecture and urban planning in Brussels in the 1940s, where he was part of a vibrant scene of modernist thinkers. Over several decades, he designed notable residential and commercial buildings in and around Vilvoorde, Mechelen, and Brussels — many now considered landmarks of Belgian modernism.
Between 1958 and 1975, De Winter expanded his practice into furniture design. His works are marked by precise proportions, functional design, and refined use of materials.
This bar cabinet from the 1960s reflects his architectural sensibility: elevated on chrome legs, it features warm rosewood veneer and a vivid blue interior. Minimal yet bold in contrast and form, it stands as a rare example of Belgian modernist design.
Discovered in the home of architect O. De Pelsemaeker in Woluwe-Saint-Lambert, along with other Roger De Winter furniture.
