A rare Modernist dressing table from the 1950s, featuring a cleverly concealed, adjustable mirror. While the designer remains unknown, the piece shows strong influence from the work of Finnish architect Alvar Aalto, whose similar design was produced in the late 1940s.
The dressing table is defined by its simple geometric form and well-balanced proportions. The light birch wood contrasts beautifully with the black-painted accents along the top edge and base. Beneath the tabletop sits a lockable hinged flap, which can be left open horizontally. This clever mechanism allows the tabletop to lift and the hidden mirror to be positioned at the desired angle.
This piece has been carefully refurbished using original techniques and materials. Finished with nitro lacquer, it preserves the authentic character of the wood while enhancing its warmth and depth. There is only minimal wear on the wooden parts and some patina on the mirror gained over the years. All parts remain original, ensuring the historical integrity of the item.
A striking and functional design object, this dressing table embodies the elegance and ingenuity of modernist craftsmanship.
