Exceptional 1930s Bauhaus cantilever armchair from Czechoslovakia, attributed to Kovona and closely related in its design language to the iconic Thonet S 411.
The chair embodies the progressive spirit of European modernism, combining a sculptural chrome-plated tubular steel cantilever frame with elegantly shaped beech wood armrests and a generously upholstered seat and backrest. Its fluid steel construction creates a distinctive architectural silhouette characteristic of the Bauhaus and early modernist movement.
The armchair has been carefully refurbished and newly upholstered in a high-quality light blue fabric with a soft, suede-like appearance. The renewed upholstery and padding provide excellent comfort while respecting the chair’s original period character. The warm tone and natural grain of the restored beech armrests create an attractive contrast with the polished tubular steel frame and understated blue upholstery.
