This exceptionally large vintage tramp art serving tray is a masterpiece of early-to-mid 20th-century European folk art, dating back to the 1930s-1940s. Handcrafted with incredible precision, the artisan used thousands of wooden matchsticks to build a highly complex, layered geometric parquetry pattern. By skillfully singeing the match heads and select areas of the wood, the maker achieved a beautiful, multi-toned gradient effect that creates a striking sense of depth, typical of the Art Deco era. Measuring an impressive 55 cm in width, this piece is significantly larger than standard matchstick trays of this period, making it a true collector's item and a powerful statement piece for your interior. It comes equipped with its original protective glass plate, which not only preserves the delicate, tightly packed woodwork from dust and wear but also ensures the tray is completely functional for serving cocktails or coffee. The reverse side reveals a beautifully aged wooden base with an authentic patina that confirms its genuine vintage heritage and solid construction. The tray is in very good vintage condition with only two missing matchsticks on the border of the tray (that quite easily can be replaced). It can be utilized as a unique decorative tray on a coffee table or mounted on the wall as an eye-catching piece of geometric wooden wall art. Keep in mind it is a bit more fragile than modern one piece wooden trays. The glass is intact.
