Rare small antique religious crown in carved and gilt wood, probably Iberian and possibly Spanish, dating from the 18th century. Originally made for a devotional statue, likely a Virgin Mary, Child Jesus or crowned saint. The crown is entirely hand-carved, with gilt decoration and a red-painted interior. It retains both its upper cross and the wooden fixing peg underneath, which was used to attach it directly to the head of the statue. Dimensions Height: 6 cm Diameter: 5.5 cm Condition Very good antique condition considering its age, with expected wear and small losses to the gilding. The crown is complete, including the upper cross and lower fixing peg. A charming miniature piece of European sacred art with strong decorative character.
