Rare 18th-century religious crown in carved, gilt and silvered wood, probably Iberian and possibly Spanish, circa 1720–1760. Originally made for a devotional statue, likely a Virgin Mary, Child Jesus or crowned saint. The crown is entirely hand-carved, with sculpted arches, bead-like ornaments, geometric motifs and a rich combination of old gilding and silvering. Traces of red preparation remain visible beneath some of the silvered areas, giving the surface a beautiful aged Baroque character. Dimensions Height: 13 cm Diameter: 10.5 cm Condition Very good antique condition considering its age. The structure is sound, with expected wear and small losses to the gilding and silvering. The original small cross at the top is missing, while the upper fixing element remains visible. A rare and highly decorative piece of European sacred art.
