Beautiful 17th-century pilaster cabinet.
Quarter-sawn oak.
There is furniture and then there is furniture art.
This piece belongs to the latter group.
Circa 1650.
Dutch pilaster cabinet, this is a classic model, pure Renaissance,
very richly crafted, as such a cabinet should be.
And no matter how richly and carefully made, the whole remains harmonious.
Beautiful carving and decorated here and there with small pieces of ebony.
These cabinets always have a base cabinet and a separate upper cabinet.
The sides have beautiful panels and rails with refined profiles.
There are two drawers underneath. The cabinet stands on ball feet.
The locks from the 17th century were replaced in the 18th century.
Both the back legs have been restored.
