Beautiful color offset lithograph by Jan Dibbets from 1975/76
Sheet size: 56 x 43 cm, in mint condition.
This color offset was created for an exhibition at Leo Castelli in New York in 1975.
Dibbets trained as a drawing teacher, then moved to London, where he studied at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, and began creating conceptual works in parks, gardens, and on the beach. Dibbets was part of the Groep 130, founded in 1965.
His international breakthrough came with his "perspective corrections" in 1969. In these works, he used photography to adjust the perception of simple shapes, which he drew on floors, walls, or laid out in grass or sand. By meticulously arranging photographs within a single work, he created panoramas of vistas he had adjusted himself, known as "Dutch Horizons." His work was exhibited in Amsterdam by Galerie Swart in 1966 and 1967.
