DESCRIPTION:
A beautiful brass dining table and chairs of Italian design from the 1970s. The set consists of a brass frame with a base formed by four curved tubes that meet in the middle. A thick smoked glass top sits on this frame. Around the table are four brass tube-frame wire chairs that still have their original fabric upholstery. These are attached to the mesh frame with a click-and-button system, preventing the upholstery from slipping. In short, a beautiful set for lovers of Italian design and vintage furniture.
ABOUT GASTONE RINALDI:
He designed all kinds of metal chairs and participated in the 9th Milan Triennale in 1951. He was the first in Italy to present sheet steel with aluminum chairs with foam upholstery. His designs further improved after a meeting with Giò Ponti, who encouraged him to continue working in metal. Rinaldi used steel tubing and mesh, resulting in remarkable chairs.
His "DU 30" chair won the 1954 Compasso d'Oro, and his DU43 received an honorable mention. In 1958, he designed the Zenith sofa, a sofa that only he could produce thanks to his expertise in metal construction.
In 1974, he left his father's company and set up his own chair factory, for which he provided the designs until the 1980s. He won the Compasso d'Oro in 1978 and 1981 and was selected several times for the Triveneto Design and the Forum Design in 1987. Since 1994, he has also worked for Zanotta.

CONDITION:
Used condition. The brass has many weathered spots. The upholstery is still in perfect condition. The table frame has some movement; it needs to be positioned properly to be stable. One cap is missing under the tabletop, but this is not a problem. (See the last photos for a better idea of the condition.)

For the set, the price reflects the condition. In better condition, they go for double or triple the price.
WELCOME TO THE SHOWROOM: You are welcome to visit our 500m² showroom in Amsterdam South, opposite the UMC hospital. It's easily accessible by public transport and car. It's located right next to the A10 ring road. The showroom is outside the environmental zone. Free parking is available on-site for customers.
