A rare beautiful appearance: this rosewood desk by the Danish designers Torben Valeur & Henning Jensen for furniture manufacturer Dyrlund in Denmark. Period: 1960-1969.
Dyrlund was/is specialized in handmade high-end furniture for the home and (executive) office. It is a free-standing desk that can be placed against or separately from a wall.
We like the design of the wooden rectangular 'carriers' on which the desk rests. The desk consists of two modules, each with three drawers and an open compartment for books and magazines at the front. Subtle is the raised edge at the front of the desk.
Palissander/rosewood has now become a rare tropical type of wood for which a certificate is now required to use it (CITES certificate). At the time of the manufacture of this piece of furniture, having to possess this certificate was not yet an issue.
The desk has a very chic look and deserves a nice place in your office, shop or home. Place it freely in a room with a suitable desk chair and 'a picture is born'. For example, what do you think of the seventies ProPos desk chair by Tijsseling that we have included?
The condition of the desk: front, top, back and both carriers are in impeccable condition. Same on both sides; only one piece of rosewood was used on one side by a German furniture maker in 2017, which does not quite match the rest of the desk in terms of color (see last photo)
The two wooden supports can be easily unscrewed from the desk for transport.
