Rare set of five vintage Scandinavian candlesticks by designer Hans-Agne Jakobsson, Claudia model, published in the 1960s. Each piece features a gilded brass cylindrical base and an amber blown glass diffuser, forming a lantern-like silhouette. All in fine original condition, with a beautiful natural patina on the brass (variations in intensity due to age). The spring system for holding the candles is functional. Some pieces still retain their original Hans-Agne Jakobsson AB Markaryd label. Glassware intact, with no cracks or chips. These candleholders are typical of the Scandinavian style of the 60s, combining minimalism, warmth of materials and craftsmanship.
Hans-Agne Jakobsson (1919-2009) is one of the leading figures of 20th-century Scandinavian design, particularly renowned for his lighting and decorative objects. Trained in architecture and industrial design in Sweden, he began his career at General Motors before joining the Carl Malmsten and Orrefors design houses.
In 1951, he founded his own company, Hans-Agne Jakobsson AB, in Markaryd, where he developed a unique style combining organic forms, soft lighting and warm materials such as brass, blown glass and laminated wood. His work is characterized by a quest for luminous softness and formal simplicity, in the spirit of Nordic modernism. His creations, such as the Claudia lamps and candlesticks, are today highly sought-after by collectors of vintage design.
