Rotan Hunt - Between wood, color and soul
The story of Rotan Hunt began in the heart of the picturesque Taunus region, where dense forests and rolling hills characterize the landscape. An artist who taught himself the craft and sensed early on that wood was more than just a material for him - it was living matter that carried stories within it.
His passion led him to Austria, to a traditional carpentry workshop, where he learned the intricacies and secrets of old craftsmanship. But Rotan wanted to do more than just shape wood. He wanted to transform it. With every cut, every sanding, every brushstroke, he breathed new life into the materials.
Today, he experiments with wood, stone, glass, resin, metal and strong acrylic paints - and creates works that are both archaic and modern at the same time. Each piece tells its own story, captivating the eye and touching the soul. His encounter with a master acrylic painter at the Kunsthochschule Düsseldorf brought additional color, depth and emotion to his work.
A decisive turning point in his journey was his encounter with the French artist Benoît Averly. From him, Rotan learned not only to work wood, but also to transform it into sculptures that outlast space and time.
Today, his home is more than just a place to live - it is a gallery, a living studio, a refuge of creativity. Anyone who enters it is immersed in a world of shapes, structures and colors, in a dimension where the ordinary becomes the extraordinary.
Rotan Hunt is not an artist who stands still. He is a seeker, an explorer, a creator - and each of his works is an invitation to see the world with new eyes.
