This rare vintage lamp is a beautiful example of French mid-century industrial style. Made by Compagnie Générale des Électro-Céramiques (CGEC)—a historic ceramics company with roots in the late 19th century, which originally produced ceramic insulators for the electrical industry.
The lamp bears the markings "CGEC," "61" (year of manufacture), and "P0 10420" (model or production reference), as well as an additional engraved code in the metal ring at the top. The design clearly references the industrial insulators with which CGEC built its reputation.
CGEC disappeared in the late 1970s and was absorbed by Ceraver, making original pieces like this exceptionally rare. Examples like this are rarely found online and represent a unique chapter in French industrial design history.
