Moroccan Berber carpet handira 260x130 cm reversible wool and sequins
Handmade during the 1970s-80s in Morocco by local Berber tribal craftsmen, this rug, known as the "Handira", bears witness to a long history of tradition among the peoples of the Maghreb. Originally known as the "Berber Wedding Rug", the Handira rug is entirely embroidered, woven and forged by hand. Whether it's the weft, the bangs or the sequins, each element has been created by the hand of a man for a man and his wife, in the pure tradition of the people of the Atlas mountains, notably the Zayane or Beni Ouarain tribes.
Made from soft wool, fringe, colorful geometric motifs and silver metal sequins, it has the distinctive feature of being reversible: one side in curly wool embellished with shiny bohemian-chic stripes, the other adorned with colorful Berber embroidery, to change the mood to suit your mood!
Ideal as a decorative rug, its large size of 260 by 130 cm will be ideal in a large living room, bedroom or office, but it can also be used as a bed throw or large sofa, or as a wall hanging in a bohemian spirit for a gallery effect.
