Rare Set of Korond Folk Art Pottery from Transylvania, Romania
A charming, artisanal set consisting of a pot with lid and a miniature jug/vase, from the famous pottery village of Korond. This is authentic folk art pottery, handmade and unique.
DETAILS & CRAFTSMANSHIP
• ORIGIN: Korond, Transylvania (Romania).
• MATERIAL: Pottery with a rustic look.
• DECORATION: Hand-painted in the characteristic Korond blue on a cream glaze. The pot features the stylized pineapple/plant pattern, the jug the bird pattern.
• UNIQUELY MARKED: The pieces are marked with the names of the potters: KISS MIHÁLY and MATHE IMRE.
• DIMENSIONS
o Pot with lid: Height approx. 13 cm, body diameter 10 cm.
Jug: Height approx. 9 cm.
CONDITION
The set is in good vintage condition. The pot has minor chips, but this, as well as the irregularities in the firing process, is characteristic of and appreciated in this type of authentic folk art. The set is highly decorative.
IDEAL FOR: Collectors of folk art and artisanal ceramics, or as a colorful, rustic accent in an interior.
