This armchair is a classic GE 290 Easy Chair, designed by Hans J. Wegner and manufactured by Getama in Gedsted, Denmark.
The design dates from the 1950s to 1960s and represents Scandinavian modernism with clean lines and a functional yet homely feel.
The frame is made of solid oak, the distinctive armrests are wide and slightly slanted, emphasizing the strong, geometric shape of the armchair. The backrest is slightly inclined and designed with horizontal rungs, giving the furniture both stability and lightness.
The seat and back cushions are upholstered in a wine-red fabric with removable covers for easy care. The characteristic suspension with spiral springs and an upholstered support can be seen under the seat, which ensures a high level of comfort. On the underside of the frame is the manufacturer's embossing from Getama, which confirms the original Danish origin.
