This original Fire (T21) executive chair was designed by Kai Kristiansen for the Danish manufacturer Schou Andersen Møbelfabrik in the 1960s. This Danish mid-century modern design chair with a teak frame impresses with its deep color and natural, strong grain. The seat and backrest are upholstered in deep blue vinyl, giving the chair an elegant and timeless character. The combination of warm teak and deep blue creates a harmonious composition that complements various interior styles. The chair stands out with its characteristic, light silhouette and refined details, which testify to the high-quality craftsmanship typical of Danish modernism. The contoured backrest, graceful, slightly curved armrests, and relatively narrow width make the chair comfortable yet space-saving. Its shape makes the Fire chair not only a practical piece of furniture but also a striking decorative element that enhances the character of a room.
Kai Kristiansen is a Danish designer still considered one of the most talented Scandinavian designers of the 20th century. He graduated from the prestigious Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen under the guidance of designer Kaare Klint. At 26, Kristiansen opened his own studio, which he shared with his colleague Illum Wikkelsø in the 1970s. His designs were produced by renowned Danish manufacturers such as Feldballes Møbelfabrik, Fornem Møbelkunst, Fritz Hansen, and Magnus Olesen. Kristiansen enjoyed combining teak and rosewood in his chairs, desks, sideboards, and wall units. In 1956, he designed his most famous work, Chair No. 42 for Schou Andersen. This chair was critically acclaimed and has since become one of the most timeless Danish designs of the 20th century.
