Elchinger Ceramics was a family business founded in 1834 in Soufflenheim, Alsace, by Wendelin Elchinger (1809-1895). Production initially focused on kitchenware. Fernand Elchinger (1911-1975) developed and modernized the factory. Fueled by the popularity of Vallauris ceramics, the Alsatian manufacturer achieved considerable renown in the 1950s with its production of vases and pitchers featuring clean lines. After eight generations, the family business closed permanently in June 2016.
